Approved Document F (ADF) Building Regulations 2021 Revisions

 

 

Approved Document F provides guidance on building ventilation, including building air quality and preventing condensation in a domestic or non-domestic structure.

​

With new regulations announced in December 2021, ensure you are advised of all essential information, revisions from previous iterations and how this will impact your future projects. The new regulations has seen a number of changes and significant additions, including:

 

• Integration of Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide (DVCG) into Approved Document F (ADF)

• Flow rate/background ventilator changes

• New refurbishment section

Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide 2010

An associated document to Approved Document F, this new guide outlines the requirements for onsite ventilation inspection, testing and commissioning (controlled service introduction) plus the provision of information for the end user on completion.

Part L: Conservation of Fuel and Power (ADL2010)

​

Approved Document L regulates new building emissions through SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure). Guidance of generic building elements are provided, but all specific material specifications are completed within SAP software.

Part J: Heat Producing Appliances

Approved Document J regulates the safety of combustion appliances and fuel storage systems in domestic dwellings, which includes the provision of adequate ventilation where combustion appliances are installed.

Part P: Electrical Safety

​

Approved Document P regulates electrical design and installation in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury, including the installation of new or replacement ventilation systems.
